  • Welcoming Schools

    Welcoming Schools is a K-6 project of the Human Rights Campaign. To be a Welcoming School means to embrace family diversity, avoid gender stereotyping and work to end bullying and name-calling.

  • Students are often given “Shining Sharks” by their teachers when they are showing these qualities: Safe, Helpful, A Learner, Respectful and Responsible, and Kind. Every month one student from each class is chosen as Student of the Month. To earn this honor, students must be a “shining shark” and leader in their classroom.
